Quality Management System, known as ISO 9001 is the most prominent standard in the ISO standards for decades. It promotes effective quality management of processes in the organization to ensure upward trajectory of business. The standard emphasis the framework of PDCA starts from understanding customer requirements, mobilizing resources that make sure quality products and services meeting customer satisfaction.

Most of the organizations implement and certify for ISO 9001 for a systematic approach to their business growth. this includes of every process is supported by a well-crafted procedure and related documents enabling everyone in that process understand, adhere and contribute for refined and improved efficacy of their process. It starts from designing an effective organization chart and defining roles & responsibilities. This initiative will make everyone in the organization understand their individual roles and expected contribution for organization's objectives.

ISO Certification is a journey for continual improvement of systems and processes which can be validated by an independent third party. Although ISO governing body does not ask for accreditation, it is highly recommended to avail accreditation for those certifiable standards. There are ISO standards where accreditation is applicable like ISO 17025 and ISO 17020 for which accreditation bodies will be invited for assessment and accreditation. 

Every ISO certification process should undergo internal audits and review of findings, closure before formally conducting Management Review, which carries information such as objectives, process improvement plans, skill improvement, other continual improvement plans etc eventually helping organizations to use ISO standard certification as a tool for better decision making.
